Institute of Optoelectronics & Electromagnetic Information (IOEI) adheres to the international frontier development and the major national requirement as the guidance, based upon the West, closely combined with the preponderant discipline of Lanzhou university, and gradually formed four research areas with its own distinctive characteristics, such as the micro-nano fluidic controlling and optical sensing, the modern communication technology, the micro-nano optical communication device design and application, the electromagnetic field and microwave technology. IOEI has undertaken a number of national natural science foundation projects and provincial natural science foundation projects, with a total expenditure of more than 7 million Yuan. The affiliated discipline of the institute has the program for Ph.D candidates of Radio Physics as the second discipline. There are two professors, five associate professors, and ten persons who have had the Ph.D degree, eight persons who have the experience of studying abroad. Among them, there is one person of the winner of Education Ministry's New Century Excellent Talents Supporting Plan, two persons of Young Teachers' Achievement Award in Gansu province, one person of 'Flying Apsaras' distinguished scholars program of Gansu province, one person of 'Baosteel' Excellent Teacher Award winner. We have published more than 120 academic papers, including more than 100 SCI/EI papers, 8 SCI papers in JCR zone one and more than 20 SCI papers in JCR zone 2. We have won one Third Class Prize for Progress in Science and Technology of Gansu province, one First Class Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress in Colleges and Universities of Gansu province, and two Second Class Prizes for Teaching Achievements of Gansu province. Two academic monographs and textbooks have been published in recent years. We have guided undergraduate students to participate in the 2013 National Undergraduate Electronics Design Contest, won the Special Prize of Group F of Gansu provincial competition area , and the team was awarded the First Prize of the country. In 2014, we won the  Second Prize of the country in the NUEDC, and 4 Special Prizes of Gansu provincial competition area in total. Two teams have been guided to participate in 'BoChuang Cup' National College Students Embedded Design Contest, and have won two national Second Prizes and two Special Prizes in northwest division. We also guided one postgraduate team to participate in the 12th 'Huawei Cup' China Graduate Electronic Design Contest, and won the Second Prize of the team in the northwest competition area. Our team also have won one Third Prize in China Graduate Student Innovation Practice Series Competition.
