The Department of Electronic Information &Communication Engineering is a basic undergraduates’ teaching organization of affiliated with School of Information Science and Engineering. It comprises two undergraduate majors: the Electronic information science and technology (specialized class code: 080714T, admissions starting in 1999) and Communication engineering (specialized class code: 080703, admissions starting in 2000) According to the electronic information category (major code: 0807), there is a unified enrollment and one-year common basic courses before the students split into aforementioned two majors. Our goal is to cultivate innovative or compound elite talents with noble moral characters, lofty ideas, profound cultural heritage and scientific literacy, solid theoretical foundation and professional skills, who are healthy, with feelings of home-country and international vision and can be engaged in electronic information and related fields of systems, equipment and devices research, design, development, manufacturing, application, maintenance, management and other work. The majors are four years and the students who meet the requirements can obtain a bachelor's degree of engineering from Lanzhou University. The Department of Electronic Information and Communication Engineering has 50 faculty members, including 7 professors and 15 associate professors. At present, there are about 480 full-time undergraduates.
.  In addition, the Department of Electronic Information and Communication Engineering has an information science and technology talent training base of Gansu province (in the direction of electronic information). It recruits 30 students each year within the entire school freshmen, who can pass the unified selection exam, to form a class independently. It focuses on cultivating innovative leading talents with solid theoretical foundation, innovative spirit and interdisciplinary, so as to provide academic top-notch talents with all-round development of morality, intelligence, physique, aesthetics and labor for universities and research institutes.
