The Brain Computing Research Center of the School of Information Science and Engineering is located at the 533 Laboratory of Feiyun Building, Panxuan Road Campus. This research center was formed in December 2017.
1. Faculty
The head of the research center is Dr. Yao Zhijun, a doctoral tutor. Currently, there are 4 doctors and 11 masters.
2. Organizational structure
The research center currently includes three research groups, the multimodal imaging research group, the morphological imaging research group, and the machine learning classification group.
Multimodal Image Research Group: Graduate student in this group is mainly engaged in the combined research of brain imaging data such as MRI, PET and fMRI, as well as the comprehensive analysis of pathology and mechanism.
Morphological Imaging Research Group: Graduate student in this group is mainly engaged in the study of structural MRI imaging and geometry, and morphometrics. The main goal is to locate local and initial pathological changes in the human brain through more sensitive mathematical indicators. Their target is to provide corresponding data support for longitudinal brain imaging studies.
Machine learning classification group: Graduate student in this group is mainly engaged in the feature extraction, feature analysis, computer-aided diagnosis and automatic disease classification of medical images. Its main goal is to extract key features and design the best classification model according to the pathogenesis pattern of specific mental diseases and the grading and staging of cancer (such as lung cancer), so as to improve the accuracy of mental illness classification and cancer staging.
3. Laboratory construction
None.
4. Teaching and research
This center has published dozens of SCI academic papers, and obtained 4 software copyrights and several patents. Professor Yao Zhijun, the person in charge of the center, actively promoted a large number of undergraduates to participate in scientific research projects including the National College Students Innovation Experiment Program, the University Student Innovation Experiment Program, and the scientific research competition including the National Undergraduate Electronic Design Competition. He is also undertake the undergraduate professional basic course teaching work and graduation thesis guidance work.
A large number of undergraduate students who have postgraduate recommendation qualifications in Lanzhou University are keen on working in this center; many graduates in this center continued to study at internationally renowned universities including the University of Colorado and Arizona State University in USA, and Nagoya University in Japan; at the same time, the center's graduates also have good employment prospects; many students at this center have published their research results in internationally renowned SCI journals including Biological Psychiatry, Brain Imaging and Bevavior, Frontiers in Neurology, Frontiers in Human Neuroscience, Journal of Alzheimer's Disease, IEEE Transactions on Affective Computing and so on.
