Chinese Braille digital platform( http://www.braille.org.cn )is a comprehensive public service platform for learning, living and entertainment for 17 million visually impaired people in China. It is open, legal, shared and free. It provides Braille automatic translation and Braille digital resource services for the national visually impaired. The platform has the following characteristics and innovations: (1) using the new generation of artificial intelligence technology to improve the accuracy of braille machine translation, effectively solve the problem of the shortage of Braille resources and the difficulty of reading for the blind in China; (2) the platform pioneers the mathematical and chemical formula and Chinese Braille machine translation method, which overcomes the problem of the blind users' self-editing formula and realizes the Braille music score translation; (3) The platform uses big data and cloud computing technology to realize the storage and management of massive Braille resources, which can meet the needs of learning, entertainment and making friends for the visually impaired in China.
China Braille digital platform is developed by the information accessibility research center of Lanzhou University jointly entrusted by the China Disabled Persons' Federation and the China Blind Association, and has been popularized and applied nationwide. The research results of the platform are also an important part of the project "digital reading promotion project for the blind" hosted by China Braille Press.
In 2013, Lanzhou University and the China Association for the blind established the information accessibility joint laboratory. In 2018, Lanzhou University and the China Disabled Persons' Federation jointly established the information accessibility research center. The R&D team has successively presided over 20 projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China, published more than 100 academic papers, and applied for nearly 20 invention patents and software copyrights.
