Lei Yuan

Lei Yuan (IEEE member) is currently an Associate Professor and a master’s supervisor at the School of Information Science and Engineering, Lanzhou University, Lanzhou, China. He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from the School of Electronic Engineering, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chengdu, China, in 2004 and 2007, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from the School of Information and Electronics, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing, China, in 2011. He is also an excellent teacher of Lanzhou University innovative entrepreneurship project and an outstanding head teacher, who has led undergraduate students to win electronic competition award many times. In 2017, he won Huawei Award funding at Lanzhou University.
  His research interests include two main research fields. The first one is the coding and modulation technology in wireless communications, and his current focus includes LDPC Codes, Polar Codes, Fountain Codes, Non-orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) and Deep Learning for the physical layer. The other is to build a distributed storage system based on erasure codes.
  He has published more than 30 SCI/EI retrieval papers, holds 4 Chinese Invention Patents and 1 software copyright in China. His research projects include:
  1. Fountain Coded D2D Cooperative Communication in 5G Networks (the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities, No. lzujbky-2017-188, Jan. 2017-Dec. 2018).
  2. Design and Implementation of Fountain Coded P2P File Sharing under IPv6 Protocol (CERNET Innovation Project, No. NGII20170503, April 2018- Mar. 2019).
  3. Research on fountain coded NOMA Transmission Technology (the Natural Science Foundation of Gansu Province, China, No. 18JR3RA268, July 2018-June 2020).
